Team Aidan
By Paper Crushes
eARC given for honest review!
Right away the prologue gives the reader a little bit of action, and worry! I was sucked in from that point, and didn't want to put my kindle down! I read this whole book in one sitting, it was just that amazing. While the beginning wasn't as nearly exciting as the end, it was still easy to fall in love with the book and the characters.
Mackenzie is a 23 year old female who at first seems to stand behind the crowd rather than with the crowd. This statement here helps with that statement, "The classic `little black dress' emphasized places I'd prefer to leave alone..." By the end of the book, I would say that she has come out of her shell, and embraced everything that was happening around her.
There is so much passion written in this book that makes it hard not to fall in love with the two main characters Aidan and Mac. At first I wondered what Aidan's whole connection was to the murders, and was worried that I would have to change my feelings towards him. But he has just as much pain locked behind his heart that Mac has of her own. The one main thing I liked about this couple, is it wasn't rushed. Lately, must couples meet and then two chapters down the road they are hopelessly in love with each other. Aidan and Mac both kept their feelings behind closed hearts and it eventually works up to the surface.
I liked the fact that the chapters were named, I don't remember the last time I read a book with the chapters named, and each chapter title made me laugh and start to imagine what I might read next. Towards the end, the chapters had me worrying about the welfare of my favorite characters.
I loved this book! I know I say that a lot but I'm a reader, I love all of the work that authors go through to publish their work. I'm so happy that book two is in the works because I don't think I'd be mentally stable if I was left with no idea what was going to happen between Mackenzie and Aidan.
I am giving this book 5+ stars! It was amazing, and is now a favorite. This is a book that I would really love to gain a signed copy of! Christina Jean Michaels, shoot me an email if there is any way possible for me to gain a copy! Thank you for sending me a copy to review, I loved every sentence. You have gained yourself another fan! :)

Don't skip this book!!!!

Epiphany is a book with a little bit of the paranormal and a whole lot of suspense. This book kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat the entire time! There were even a few times that I had to set my Kindle down just to catch my breath and try to process what was happening. It captured me from the very 1st paragraph and even days after reading it, it's still on my mind.
Mackenzie (Mac) is a shattered girl running from her past. She has moved to a new town to try to start over. She just wants to find a way to live life again with some semblance of happiness. Her new friend, Six, is determined to help her. I adored Six from the moment she was introduced. She is a down to earth, bubbly character; someone you could actually be friends with.
Aidan is also a newcomer to the town. He's the tall, dark, and handsome man that we all love to read about. Add a little mystery to the mix and he is delicious. Of course he has secrets of his own and isn't who he seems to be. He's hit a rough patch in this life and is looking for his own brand of justice. He isn't looking for love or friends, but fate has other plans.
Mac is a bit of a psychic and has been dreaming about Aidan for years, so when he shows up in real life, she knows that he has some role to fill in her life. As much as they resist each other, as Mac's dreams become more gruesome and turning up in headlines, they begin to drift closer and to rely on each other.
Mac and Aidan aren't the only characters with secrets in this book though. It seems like at almost every turn something new is being revealed. Even with all the things going on in this book, never once did I feel like the author was just throwing more surprising tidbits in just for the hell of it. She weaves just an awesome tale and each new surprise is integral to the story. I gasped, said "NO," and hit my head too many times to count. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the author proved me wrong.
If you enjoy paranormal or suspense, then this is definitely the book for you. This is a great start to a new series and I can't wait to see what maze the author, Christina Jean Michaels, will bring us through in the next book. The only thing I know for sure is that I'll be snatching book 2, Awakening, up on release day!

Full of Suspense and heart pounding action
By Tonyalee
Mystery/Thrillers are steadily climbing up the ladder on my favorites and this one just screams awesome. It did not disappoint. It's suspense kept me on edge, the killers MO had been terrified for everyone and the twist and turns had me reeling. However.. *dun dun duuuun* There was one part of the book that I just didn't care for. And it's a huge part. The start of the romance.
This book is craaaaaazy. My heart was pounding from the first page and hardly let up. Christina, whew girl, you really know how to hook a reader in with that suspense.
A serial killer. A horrific, sadistic person, that has put more than one town in fear. The pacing was perfect, giving us clues and then backing off and the right time for room to think. The execution of those small clues and seeded doubts was so subtle, I was changing my mind on who the killer was and going over the tiniest of details, in hopes that I didn't miss anything. I had my suspects narrowed down to two, about midway. I was right but only because there was ONE scene that kept popping back into my mind. Something was just OFF and it stuck. Still; I was questioning myself and pointing fingers at everyone. Which goes to show to trust your gut!
I loved the aspect of the dreams. There was fascinating to read and I found myself reading into every small detail to find some clues. The dreams are random, showing us things from the past and the future. We started to get a little bit more elaboration towards the end on WHY she has this ability (FREAKY TWIST) But I am OK with the explanation "because it just is".
Mackenzie has a rough couple of months. After a traumatic event, betrayal of her boyfriend and discovering a HUGE lie from her Mother, she just wants to start over and put it all behind her. Things obviously change for her, after meeting Aiden, a man whom she has dreamed about for years. And the sudden, horrific dreams of women being raped, tortured and killed. Good grief, could you even imagine? She's shy but forward, lonely and scared, yet determined to stop the killer and protect Aiden. Her reactions and fears were realistic. She went into shock, cried and more or less flipped out. It isn't that she's week; this makes her more real because not EVERYONE is immune or strong, ya know? Poor girl couldn't catch a break.
As for Aiden. Well. He was an A-whole in the beginning. Standoff-ish, rude and ungrateful. It was really difficult for me to see past that but eventually, I did. He hasn't had the best of it either, having skeletons of his own and is actually closer to the case that what he initially lets on. I felt bad for the guy and I completely understood his motivations. He's strong, protective and yes I admit, sexy.
Which now, brings me to the Romance. I fear spoilers coming, so this may be pretty damn vague.
It felt like insta love to me. It was difficult for me to buy their relationship and their feelings. Quite honestly, I was thinking what Mackenzie was about his intentions. I just feel that if there was more.. depth to their relationship, I would have cared a little bit more at first. Eventually, I started to like them together and appreciate what they HAD, especially since both their relationships prior didn't.... end well. THEN; after that GINORMOUS twist was thrown in.. O_O I was completely baffled. I was really curious to see how Christina would handle the situation. I was really hoping it would be explained and wrapped up nicely, which is was. Kudos for that.
I thought the ending was well done. There is defiantly more to the story and more going on than what we think. I feel like the calm just came in after a nasty storm and shit is fixin to hit the fan. Small cliffhanger, with enough mystery to have me desperate for the next book.
Overall- I freaking LOVED IT. Full of suspense, heart pounding action and twists you never see coming. I highly recommend!
